Ron Ramsey, Tennessee governor hopeful, offers changes
Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, R-Blountville, will propose legislation this week that would allow the governor to make appointments to the state Supreme Court and appellate courts without reinstituting a judicial selection commission for recommendations.
His package on selecting judges also will call for amending the state Constitution to allow Supreme Court justices to be re-elected on a “yes” or “no” retention plan, as is currently used.
