Publisher of Kingsport Times-News continues to promote porn

Update to post: The Kingsport Times-News has cleaned up the links that I listed below in this post. It is still beyond me why the Kingsport Times-News failed to address this issue on the many occasions that it was brought to their attention. As of now, this concern has been resolved, but I’m going to hang on to the ‘yard signs’ for later use if needed.

I have been urging the Kingsport Times-News to put an end to the practice of allowing spam that includes porno links on their web pages. So far, I have been unsuccessful. It appears that they don’t care or they are in over their head.

If there are no changes after this post, then I will step up my efforts many notches to get this issue resolved. My advice for the bible belt newspaper is to get rid of the porn in your web pages.

To the customers and advertisers of the Kingsport Time-News, if you are offended by the porn that the Kingsport Times-News has on their web pages, then you should express your feelings to the newspaper.

Do we need to make yard signs as in the above picture? Do we need to boycott firms that advertise with the Kingsport Times-News? Do we need to picket in front of the Kingsport Times-News building? Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen need to express their views on this issue since they are using taxpayer money to advertise with the Kingsport Times-News. Alderman Joh’s, business (Blue Ridge Properties) was sent an email on March 3, 2008 concerning this issue. Has Alderman Joh stated her views on this? Let’s see, I think her term ends next year (2009) and she might be thinking of getting reelected again. Mayor Phillips gets really mad when when an ETSU student showed a two-second clip of a woman’s backside on channel 16. It would be nice if Mayor Phillips could express the same emotion towards the Kingsport Time-News. But I guess I should not be surprised, because he has buddies at the Kingsport Times-News. What about the rest of the BMA, what are your views on this issue?

It is beyond me why Sandusky Newspapers, who owns the Kingsport Times-News, allows this issue to continue. On my blog, by far, the most hits I receive for posts are on this issue.

On March 3, 2008, the below was posted in the comments section. I am sorry to have to post it here, but feel it is necessary for the public to see what the Kingsport Times-News is promoting.

1. 6863t8319Jenny slowly stripped 400down to her brief translucent pink panties, while continuing to smoothly sway her hips, and shake her boobies, to the pounding caned music, as she moved in to give the big, blond-haired guy seated before her, a lap-dance he would remember. She straddled his thighs and slipped her arms about his neck, smiling at him, as she bucked and ground her hips, careful not to brush her crotch against the bulge of his erection. She arched her back, thrusting her shapely breasts forward, knowing the guy was aching to grasp her swaying orbs, dying to envelope her nipples with his hot mouth. But the customers were not allowed to touch the girls. well not officially! He groaned with unrequited desire, and pushed a twenty-dollar bill into the waistband of her panties, with fat, trembling fingers. She was one of three similarly attired, near naked girls, who were simultaneously writhing their sweet tushes over the laps of three seated male club members, while dozens more customers looked on, eagerly awaiting their own turn, including several women. Jenny had been working at the lap-dancing club for three weeks now, and was getting pretty good at this ultimate in sexual titivation. The money was pretty good, if you included the tips and she got plenty. She rubbed the guy face between her shapely breasts, finally allowing him to kiss and suck on her erect nipples, as she arched her spine and threw her head back, gasping with genuine pleasure. Finally the pounding musical accompaniment drew to a close and the lap-dance ended. As he pushed another twenty into the top of her flimsy underwear, she asked, in a husky voice, Would you like for me to dance for you privately, sir? They both knew what this really meant. If the guy agreed, another girl would replace her, while she was away, and her cut of the extra fee, would be a cool hundred bucks. It was the part of the job that Jennifer least liked, but she had to agree to it, if she wanted to stay employed. 6863t8319Comment by MEDVED2732 – 2008-03-03 06:24:44

Below are currents links to the Kingsport Times-News web pages that still have spam that include porn sites. Some links below have not had new spam lately, but the Kingsport Times-News did not remove some of the old spam. Many of the links below still allow porn sites to post comments.

The post below (May 5, 2008) will give you background on this issue.

Kingsport Times-News, a bible belt newspaper continues to promote porn

On March 4-7, 2008, I wrote three posts concerning the Kingsport, Tennessee Times-News allowing porn sites to promote in the comments sections on the newspaper web pages.

The Kingsport Times-News did take the offending web pages offline on March 5, 2008, but now they are back again with the porn present.

What does it take for the Times-New to get the point? It appears that they do not care about their customers and vendors who advertise in the newspaper. Do I need again to contact the 44 local clergy, local and national companies as I did before?

To the City of Kingsport, you use taxpayers money to advertise in the Time-News. Will you take a position and condemn the Times-News for allowing this to happen? (2nd request)

Some heads to to roll at the Times-News. You can start with Keith Wilson, the publisher whose lack of top management direction and oversight at the Kingsport Times-News are the reasons for this issue I cannot understand why Sandusky Newspapers, who own the Kingsport Times-News has allowed this to happen.

Kingsport Times-News promotes Pornography and Drug sales.

The Kingsport, Tennessee Times-News has allowed it’s website to be used by pornography and drug sites. The porn content is hard core and I will not give any links, but I will say that it is in the blog section and there are nine different comment pages involved. Today, the email below went to 44 religious leaders and and another email to national and local companies that advertise in the Times-Union. If it takes 44 clergy telling their congregations and many national and local advertisers to get their attention, then so be it. Maybe the loss of revenue will get their attention.

The following is a list of companies that have been alerted of this problem that advertise in the Times-News. You might want to ask them if they have expressed their concerns to the Times-News. If you are an advertiser with the Kingsport Times-News, your firm may be added to the list below. This list will grow until this practice is stopped. This blog is read by locally and nationally.

  • Wal-Mart – Bentonville, Arkansas
  • Belk – Orlando, FL
  • Blue Ridge Properties
  • ReMax Real Estate
  • State of Franklin Real Estate
  • Century 21 Real Estate
  • Hobby Lobby – Okahoma City, Ok
  • Wellmont Health Systems
  • Rick Hill Imports
  • Don Hill Automotive
  • WCYB Television
  • WEMT Television
  • WJHL Television
  • Knoxville News Sentinel
  • The Tennessean-Nashville
  • Food City

As I indicated below in the email, I had brought this to the attention of the Times-News. I also attempted to get information on the mail/email address for the CEO of Sandusky Newspapers who own many newspapers across the United States and also owns the Times-News to alert them of this problem. The Sandusky Newspaper would not give me the address where the CEO was located. I asked if they had a corporate relations person and was told that they would not provide that information, but would forward my mail to corporate headquarters. I told them that they might like to have the information quickly, but I would do it by slow mail.

There is no excuse for the Times-News to let this happen. It is apparent to me that upper management does not have a grasp on what is happening within their organization. The newspaper need to accept full responsibility for their actions and a public apology is needed.

The email below does not have some of the actual content here because this is not considered an adult site. I am sure that the religious leaders were shocked at the content I sent them.

If you are offended by Kingsport Times-News actions, then express your feeling to them.

The Kingsport Times-News comments section has hundreds of comments that has links to hard core porn sites. This has been going on for some time and one month ago I pointed it out to them. At that time the comments messages were all deleted, but now have grown back to many hundreds.

One would think that it would be safe for children to visit a newspaper webpage without fear of children being exposed to porn.

I am sending this to religious leaders in the Kingsport, Tennessee area. If you feel that it is ok for the newspaper to have porn on their site, then you don’t need to do anything. But if you have a problem with it, then take a leadership position and express your feelings to the Kingsport Times-News.

The links below have comments that are disguised as innocent subject matter, but have links to porn sites. I must warn you, it can be very graphic and be very careful because of Trojan downloader files that try to install themselves on your computer. Do not let any programs be installed on your computer. Personally, I would not click on any link without virus protection installed on the computer.

It is my feeling that this needs to stop. Times-News either needs to moderate the comments as they do the comments when users write a response to the newspaper articles or shut the comment sections down in the list below.

You may say that someone else on the email list above will contact the newspaper, but collectively it will make more of an impression if everyone expresses their concern.

You can contact the following concerning this issue. The parent company of Kingsport Times-News is Sandusky Newspapers. Sandusky also owns The Johnson City Press, Jonesborough Herald and Tribune, and The Erwin Record as well as five other newspapers in other parts of the country.
